"We Set Out Tonight for Some Strange Place" Solo Installation Artist Reception Saturday September 24th 7-9pm Wallspace is proud to present "We Set Out Tonight for Some Strange Place", a solo installation by artist Walt Hall. Walt Hall's paintings and mixed media works bring together images and thoughts of other worlds and realities that are not so distant. Hall creates his artworks using seemingly random planks of wood or discards, with applied paper from foreign newsprint to color pattern pages as backgrounds for his imaginative images. Painting primarily with acrylics, Hall produces work that ranges in size from several square inches to mural size. The installation at Wallspace will be a combination of new works hung salon-style and an experience of recreating a workspace / collector environment. The world of Walt Hall is filled with research and reference material, found objects and other organic material, including jars of nails, empty bottles, and doll heads, all of which are essential to his creative structure and process. Hall was raised in North East Los Angeles and works as a full-time artist. His work can be seen extensively throughout Los Angeles. Wallspace is a dynamic gallery on La Brea that shows art in a non-conventional setting. Hung salon style on 14' high walls, the gallery aims to create a floor-to-ceiling visceral experience. We are excited about finding new visions and contributing to the launch of careers, whilst also representing more established Los Angeles-based artists.
